Yahoo Forward Bounce Backs
Problem
Email being forwarded from our mail system (or others) to a Yahoo account are not being delivered to the Yahoo account properly.
Example:
Email sent to my_email@my_domain.com is automatically forwarded to my_name@yahoo.com
Email is never received by my_name@yahoo.com. Instead, the email is bounced back as undelivered.
Solution
This issue is due to how Yahoo filters and processes email to fight spam.
Preventing Bounce-Backs for Forwarded Emails to Yahoo
Overview
When forwarding emails to Yahoo, stricter filtering policies can sometimes lead to delivery issues, including bounce-backs. Adjusting a few settings both in your Yahoo account can help improve deliverability and ensure that your forwarded emails reach Yahoo without issues. This guide covers essential steps to check spam settings, monitor email volume, and manage security settings to prevent bounce-backs.
Step-by-Step Guide
Check Yahoo Spam Settings
Log into your Yahoo Mail account.
Go to Settings > More Settings > Filters.
Review any filters to make sure there are none that might inadvertently direct forwarded emails to spam.
Add your email address/domain (e.g., youremail@yourdomain.com) to your Safe Senders list if Yahoo provides this option.
Monitor and Reduce Email Volume (If Possible)
By default, we keep spam filters enabled on all incoming emails on our servers to prevent forwarding spam to Yahoo. You can always log in to our email servers to review recent incoming emails, including those caught by our spam filters.
If you prefer to have all spam forwarded, please let us know. However, be aware that forwarding spam can negatively impact future delivery of valid emails to Yahoo.
Review Yahoo Account Security Settings
Check your Yahoo Account Security settings to confirm there are no restrictions or advanced security filters in place that could impact email receipt from forwarded accounts.
Disable any settings that might limit incoming mail from external domains.
